Stencil of two-faced angry german dude

For this stencil I picked out a photograph off of lomography of this german guy's portrait which was taken with a splitzer allowing you to cut have of a frame but not necessarily always over-lapping doubles. I think it would look great on a wall somewhere with the right texture and maybe get that purple around the edges of the black or make it more multilayered.

Hunter S, Thomson and Ice Age

For this project I chose the writer Hunter S. Thompson and the lead singer and bassist from the Danish band Ice Age for my stencils. I wish I had the time to cut them out into real stencils, but I might be able to later on..not exactly sure yet. I was pleased with the way they both came out and I really need to start making stencils again because I used to do it a lot when I was 13 still living in Fredericksburg where my fellow friend and artist Gab taught me and I wasn't half bad.

Own project

I liked doing this assignment because it was completely my own and my results were awesome.
It was really cool to see what I could do and it made me feel better about the few photo's I took while seeing my sister in New York over the break. The top one I shot while coming up to Brooklyn with a few of the water and I took my canon EOS T3 Rebel with a telephoto lens 75-300mm and snapped a helicopter in the sky with the sun shining through the dark clouds. I merged that with another shot from Brooklyn of a tram passing through a graffited gap between roofs. The piece below that was taken on our way to Manhattan of the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance merged with a photo of a friends polaroids. I thought it came out good enough for me.

French Fry Alphabet

We had to make an  English alphabet with whatever we could think of and after seeing my friends bored one day making a stupid message out of french fry's I thought that's what I should do.. just with letters. I was slow at first about it and kept putting it off but eventually I changed out the lenses on my camera with a macro so I was ready. Despite getting plenty of odd looks from everyone who didn't know what the hell I was doing while i took all the photo's out in the front it wasn't too bad. I thought it came out pretty good I guess but it was a little annoying having to change every single letter to the right size after realizing my document was just a little too small. I think it's cool and I'm glad I got it done already.

Coconut dies in honor

I actually really enjoyed doing this project and I like the results I got out of it. Although I could've maybe added some things like a better backround I ran out of time and its good enough I guess.

Domu, A Child's Dream manga cover 1983

This a very old manga that is very well done in many aspects. Even thought the way some people look a little funny in old  Japanese animation, I like it because it is more distinguished and Japanese oriented than comics I mostly see today. It was this writer's ( Otomo )  first story about children posessing telekenitic power's that set the stage for his six book long epic "Akira" which took him ten years to complete and  in that time making a 5 million dollar animated film of it in '86. I searched for various images of Domu that I thought would work together and I cut out japanese letters since I've always wanted to see that version.
I feel content with what I've made and that it's my tribute to Otomo for showing me things that help me explain life a little bit better in a strange way.

Moon Biking

I liked what I did with this project and I feel that the more and more I plan out what would work with whatever I'm given the broader my imagination becomes. Also my knowledge of photoshop expands as I ask for help on things that'll help me do more cool things later on. I like looking at the moon a lot especially with a telescope so I can see all the craters across it's face. I like mountain biking and I have a friend, Redmund who lives in Colorado who is an amazing at it and where's full gear like this dude here. I thought it kind of looked like a space suit in a way so it seemed to work. If it would be possible to work around the lack of gravity some how I would definitely do this for sure. It would be sick.

GSA poster

For the GSA club they wanted to have a movie night and the only movie I heard was going to be watched was Milk and I told Monican the head member of the club about Gus Van Sant's other film called Elephant so I put that in too. The Graffiti Artist I heard about and thought it would just look good too in the poster and I liquified the edges like the others and maybe should've put an image below it like I did for Elephant, but I had a hard time finding a good one. The bottom black space to the left is actually for more info since they want to use it later so the date needs to be changed too. I'm going to make some minor adjustments to it later on, but I'm not going to lie I like overall how it turned out.

-Thanks, signing off Conor

Moog poster

This past weekend this sick electronic/hip-hop music festival went down in Ashville, NC and I was
so bummed not be able to go. My good friend Truman went and said it's was unbelievably awesome and I'm sure it was. I found a Moogefest name tag and a photo of the show from last year and changed the opacity so it would show through with the lights an everything. Then I picked out the top artist's I wanted to see and arranged them in a order based upon the backround which is a phot I liquified and made the colors of it show through the pictures of the various artists. I love how it looks and wish I could make some money off of it so I could go next year haha.

Replica of Photographer's manipulated photograph

For this assignment we had to replicate photographs that were manipulated using the old style of analog photography which would take day to do while with photoshop it's much easier to do. I thought it would be a little challenging, but it proved to not be so bad as with most things in photoshop once you know how your going to go about doing it. I'm content with the way it turned out and the new useful tools I got to learn how to use. Really like the opacity tool because I feel like that's something that could help me make more cool stuff in the near future. Thanks Ms. Burnette

blue toned print

kaleidoscope

For this assignment I had to follow a tutorial on youtube on how to make a kaleidoscope. It was very easy to follow and I was glad the way the picture I chose worked so well for a kaleidoscope. I feel very satisfied with the way it turned out and I hope to make more now that I know how.

photfuniapicture-akira poster

For this assignment we had to choose one photo-editing sites, chose one of the pictures shown in the site that would go well with our own picture. I just finished reading a book about the artwork of a famous manga series that is very interesting and the illustrations are amazingly detailed. I chose one of the illustrations and thought it would look cool in a public place as a sort-of poster. I really like the way it looks in that setting and I might have found another illustration which might have looked better, but its pretty good.

abstract painting project nov.2011

This assignment was based off of a movie we watched in class about a little girl at the age of 4 who made abstract paintings that became very popular and eventually began to sell for tons of money. We had to do our own abstract painting with lots of colors blended together and at first I just played around for a while, experimenting with various colors, using tools to manipulate them, and trying to make it more appealing each time. While I was creating my image I used my knowledge of spray painting by adding layers and blending colors the same way someone would spray paint. With spray painting if the can is spraying close to a wall the more thick the paint is and further away from it will fade around the edges and not drip. I found that the paint tool on the photoshop format is very similar to a spraypaint can with the way it fades around the edges and a softer look to it. I like the outcome of my work and I think my choice of colors was perfect. I cant say there would be anything that I would do differently next time because it is abstract and that's kind of hard to change

Four Square

This assignment was called four square and we had to choose some images and fit four of them on a 8 by 8 inch canvas. I thought a lot about what I could use and finally I choose some images from some favorite movies of mine. They are all animation and the art work is so well done and cool that it just worked perfectly. Some of the filters I used didn't work so well on some of them, especially the top left and bottom right images that are from the same movie Akira(1988) so I used a filter that barely disrupts all the cool details. Maybe next time I will do just one image from the movie Akira and play around with that. The top left image is from an animated series called Cowboy Bebop(1998)and the bottom left image is from another anime called Dallos(1983).

samurai champloo poster

For this assignment we were supposed to go to wordle.com and write a bunch of words that would then be mixed into a collage and then fill them into the silhouette of a picture. I tried using lots of pictures, but after experimenting with them I felt unsatisfied and I kept trying to find something better. Finally I had come across a picture that looked like it would really work well, not just because of the great silhouette, but also because of the cool words I could use with it. The genre of anime which this show, Samurai Champloo falls into was my inspiration to create this and the creativity of Japanese art in general. This piece didn't take me too long which was a relief and the process was very simple and easy to do. If I was to do something like this again I think the thing that I would do different next time would be to control the placing of the words and making them blend really well with the picture.
